Alexi O'Dea

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

My aim is to provide you with continued support.

 Coronavirus (COVID-19) Policies and Procedures

Key Points

(a) Services will be expanded in response to COVID-19 to include phone and video consultations.

(b) Some of these services will be offered at a reduced rate.

(c) New procedures will be introduced for office-based appointments to support good hygiene and social distancing.

(d) Extra support will also be available for those who need it.

Phone and Video Consultations

Phone and video consultations will be offered in lieu of office-based appointments for anyone who would like it, but especially for:

(a) clients who have symptoms of cold or flu, such as fever, coughing, sore throat, fatigue, or shortness of breath;

(b) clients who are required to self-quarantine due to a diagnosis of COVID-19;

(c) clients who are required to self-isolate due to recent travel to Australia or recent close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19; and

(d) clients who are more susceptible to COVID-19, such as people who are elderly or pregnant, a parent of a child under 12-months, or people who have a chronic health condition or compromised immune system.

Phone and video consultations will also be offered if I’m required to self-isolate, self-quarantine, or stay at home in relation to COVID-19.

Fees for Phone and Video Consultations

A standard 50 minute phone and video consultation – $220

A 30 minute phone and video consultation – $110

Procedure for Arranging a Phone or Video Consultation

To arrange a phone or video consultation in lieu of your office appointment, contact me prior to your appointment to let me know the circumstances and your preference for either a phone or video consultation. Video consultations are currently available by Coviu

Policy for Appointment Cancellations

The usual policy will apply for appointment cancellations and non-attendances.

New Procedures for Office-Based Appointments

The following hygiene and social distancing procedures will also be introduced for office-based appointments, to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect members of my client base who are more at risk.

(a) I will wash my hands before and after each appointment.

(b) Clients will also be encouraged to wash their hands before their appointment, in the bathroom down the hallway (not the kitchen).

(c) To minimise contact with door handles, the building door will remain open during the day, and I’ll open and close the studio door for you at the start and end of your appointment.

(d) We’ll greet and farewell each other without shaking hands.

(e) Rather than using the Payway terminal, I will give you your invoice after the appointment for payment by direct debit (please ensure payment receipt is emailed to me). After your payment has been made, I’ll email you a receipt and process your Medicare payment.

Further Support

If you have any questions or concerns, you’re most welcome to get in touch by phone or email. I’m happy to help. Individualised support plans can also be developed with those who need it.

The Australian Psychological Society has published a factsheet with tips for coping with COVID-19, which may also be helpful.
